A lesson on Hair Structure.
The cuticle layer of the hair is the protective layer that, when healthy, lays flat against the hair shaft, it's more compact. This is what gives the hair it's shine and manageability. When the cuticle layer is closed it protects the vital moisture and protein nutrients with in the inner structure of the hair. When the cuticle layer is "raised" the hair is more porous and more susceptible to damage.
Your hair is 4.5 to 5.5 acidic and need to be maintained at this Ph for healthy appearance, longer lasting hair color, more shine and manageability. Any product you use on your hair needs to be with in this Ph range to insure the health of your hair. Anything you put on your hair that is not within this Ph range raises or opens the cuticle layer.
